I have witnessed this only rarely, and luckily I had my camera ready this time. This little Michigan swan cygnet scrambled ahead of his siblings and somehow jumped onto a parent's back, enabling him to catch a free ride in the natural depression between the adult swan's folded wings, while all the other siblings paddled behind.
