This male red winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) stunningly displayed his brilliant red plumage while perched on a cattail in a Michigan wetland. So worried about potential rivals, he seemed to not even notice (or care) about the presence of two people in a large kayak only 20 feet away from his nesting area.
